"The launch of the draft Older People's Strategy marks the beginning of a three month consultation period that ends on 8 February 2006. The Mayor has prioritised four key areas for action. He will:
    * Challenge negative perceptions of older people and fully recognise the contribution they make to London.
    * Take action to reduce pensioner poverty in London.
    * Promote high quality social care.
    * Support those valuable discretionary services which can make so much difference to older people's lives."

    http://groups.yahoo.com/group/freecyclelondon/
This is a way of recycling stuff you don't want -- by finding somebody else in London who does want it. Or if there is something you need yourself, you might pick it up here. You have to sign up with an email address, and be prepared to handle (and delete) a large volume of email, but if you have an Yahoo account, you can read all the posts online. Join up by sending a blank email to freecyclelondon-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
There is also a Hackney-only freecycle group which refuses membership to anyone who does not have a Yahoo account (so we can't evaluate them).
